Patrick Walsh
Texas hunter heads north for caribou

NAME: Patrick Walsh

WHERE FROM: Fort Worth, Texas

HARVESTED: Northern Quebec, Canada

SPECIES TYPE: caribou

SIZE AND WEIGHT: 2 caribou: 50-inch outside spread and 39-inch outside spread

DESCRIPTION: 7-day hunt, self guided with four friends from Canada and one from Minnesota. We had some great weather. . . some snow, rain and high winds. Camp was very sparse: no water or electricity. I had multiple one plus mile stalks on several good caribou. The largest caribou shot was more than a mile and a half from camp. I hiked back to camp in darkness with a frame backpack load of more than 120 lbs. with boned meat (plus rifle and daypack). It took more than 1 hour. Lots of work but very rewarding.
