TROPHY PHOTOS

Sean Furlong
Opening Day Beauty

NAME: Sean Furlong

WHERE FROM: Calgary Alberta, Canada

HARVESTED: Alberta Canada

TYPE OF FIREARM OR BOW USED: 270 Weatherby Mag

SPECIES TYPE: Bighorn Sheep

SIZE AND WEIGHT: Scores 175 B and C

DESCRIPTION: I was lucky enough to take this Ram on August 25th (opening day) 2005. Prior to opening day we had approximately 3 feet of snow, which really limited our preseason spotting and scouting. After 3 days of wet snow and limited visibility, I spotted this Ram with 5 others. I had a glimpse of him through the spotting scope for approximately 10 minutes until he and the others slipped into the timber prior to darkness. The following morning we hiked into the valley where we had last seen the rams 2 hours prior to daylight. As the sun brought daylight to the valley, the rams appeared slowly feeding toward us. After a short belly crawl I ranged the rams at 378 yrds. I used my pack as a rifle rest and took time to settle down before pulling the trigger. The crack of my 270 weatherby echoed through the valley ending my hunt on opening day. This majestic 9 yr old ram was almost full curl on one side and heavily broomed off on the other. It’s a day I will never forget.
