Dave Coates
Canadian hunter drops beautiful buck

NAME: Dave Coates

WHERE FROM: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

HARVESTED: 20 miles southwest of Ottawa in eastern Ontario

TYPE OF FIREARM OR BOW USED: Ruger mini-thirty (7.62 x .39)

SPECIES TYPE: Whitetail

SIZE AND WEIGHT: 200 lbs.

DESCRIPTION: I had scouted an area of thick cedar swamps earlier in the season. The area that I chose to stand was littered with deer droppings and tracks and had several trails entering it. About two hours into the last day of the rifle hunt (Nov 20th, 2004) this monster came trotting down one of the trails right at me. I shot him and he ran about 50 yards and was dead. By the way, I have a paralyzed left arm so I had to shoot one-handed.
