Young Pennsylvania hunter harvests a monster on first ever quest for black bear!


NAME: Earl J. Cichy Jr.

WHERE FROM: Freeland, Pennsylvania

HARVESTED: Jeddo, Pennsylvania

TYPE OF FIREARM OR BOW USED: .30-06 rifle

SPECIES TYPE: Black bear

SIZE AND WEIGHT: 761 lbs. (live weight)

DESCRIPTION: Earl J. Cichy Jr. took this bear on opening day in Luzerne Co., while hunting with his father. It was the young man's first time bear hunting and he downed the bear with two shots from a .30/06 rifle. A post-season report by the Pennsylvania Game Commission lists this bear as the largest taken during the 2002 bear season in PA.
