The Funny Side of the Great Outdoors
New book collects cartoons, spoofing the great American hunter

Mount Pleasant, Iowa--Pick-up trucks and shotgun shells, arrows, camouflage and orange vests--these are the wares of the great American hunter, who must keep his wits about him to outsmart the wily prey. Unfortunately, wits are not jarred and stocked next to the live worms or deer hormones, but the witty humor runs rampant like a herd of deer during hunting season in the new cartoon book, The Funny Side of Hunting and Fishing: A Cartoonist's Guide to the Sports of the Great Outdoors (now available through 1stBooks Library), by Daniel Roberts.

Part Far Side, part Elmer Fudd, Roberts' book highlights some of the funny aspects of hunting and fishing. The Funny Side of Hunting and Fishing is a collection of over 100 cartoons spoofing the favorite pastimes of the great outdoorsman. The book is sectioned into hunting swift deer, hunting the wily feathered duck, the hunters and their relations to each other and the nautical exploits of fishing.
